Customs official and civic leader, of Port Townsend, Wash. Edward Sidney Dyer was born in Portland, Me., in 1804, the son of Jones Dyer, Jr., and Lydia Knight Dyer. He married Harriet D. Carleton in 1830 in Calais, Me. The couple had six children: Sidney, Edward Jones, Elizabeth A., Anne Abbott, Phebe C., and Charles Porter Dyer. Edward Sidney Dyer died 5 Oct. 1875 in Port Townsend and was interred in Laurel Grove Cemetery. From the description of Dyer collec...
